Current formulation lists 11 ingredients with individually disclosed quantities; company summarizes published research on ashwagandha, L-arginine, caffeine, magnesium and zinc while distinguishing ingredient studies from evidence for the complete formula
GLASGOW, Scotland, September 21, 2026 — Wolfson Brands (UK) Limited today announced the U.S. launch of the current Performer 8 formulation, a daily dietary supplement for adult men that combines 11 individually listed ingredients in a capsule format.
The current formula lists KSM-66 ashwagandha extract, L-arginine, L-lysine, caffeine, SENACTIV, magnesium, vitamin C, zinc, vitamin B6, copper and folic acid. Published nutrition information identifies 750 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha, 500 mg each of L-arginine and L-lysine, 200 mg of caffeine and 50 mg of SENACTIV, alongside six vitamins and minerals.
As part of the launch announcement, Wolfson Brands is providing research context for several of the principal ingredients while emphasizing an important limitation: studies conducted on individual ingredients do not establish the effects of the complete Performer 8 formula.
“The launch is focused on giving consumers clear information about what is included in the formula and what published research can and cannot tell us,” said Kevin Moore, Product Head at Performer 8. “Each ingredient has its own research history, study doses and limitations, and those findings should be kept separate from conclusions about the complete formulation.”
Current Performer 8 Formula
The current U.S. formulation provides individually disclosed quantities rather than combining its primary ingredients into an undisclosed proprietary blend.
The listed amounts include:
-
KSM-66 ashwagandha extract — 750 mg
-
L-arginine — 500 mg
-
L-lysine — 500 mg
-
Caffeine — 200 mg
-
SENACTIV — 50 mg
-
Magnesium — 80 mg
-
Vitamin C — 80 mg
-
Zinc — 10 mg
-
Vitamin B6 — 1.4 mg
-
Copper — 1 mg
-
Folic acid — 200 mcg
Individual quantities allow study doses to be compared with the amounts listed on the product label. Such comparisons still require caution because clinical studies can differ in extract type, participant population, duration and measured outcomes.

KSM-66 Ashwagandha: Research on Stress and Related Measures
The formula lists 750 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha extract. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) has been examined in randomized controlled studies involving adults experiencing stress.
A recent multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 1,002 adults evaluated 600 mg per day of ashwagandha root extract for eight weeks, with researchers primarily examining safety and tolerability.
Other controlled research has investigated ashwagandha in relation to mood, perceived stress, mental fatigue and related measures. However, study preparations and quantities vary, and findings involving one standardized extract cannot automatically be transferred to another formulation.
The 750 mg quantity listed for Performer 8 is therefore an ingredient specification. Research on ashwagandha provides background on the ingredient but does not constitute a clinical evaluation of Performer 8.

L-Arginine: Human Studies Use Substantially Different Quantities
Performer 8 lists 500 mg of L-arginine. L-arginine is an amino acid involved in the body’s production of nitric oxide, a signaling molecule associated with normal vascular processes.
Human supplementation studies have produced mixed findings. In one randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 15 men, participants received 6 grams of L-arginine before resistance exercise. Researchers observed an increase in muscle blood volume during recovery but did not find an increase in strength performance.
Another randomized crossover study using 6 grams found no significant change in nitric-oxide biomarkers, exercise oxygen cost or exercise tolerance compared with placebo.
These studies used approximately 12 times the 500 mg quantity listed in Performer 8. The differences in dose and study conditions mean that results from these trials should not be presented as evidence of what the finished Performer 8 formulation will do.
Caffeine: Established Stimulant With Individual Differences in Tolerance
The current formula lists 200 mg of caffeine. Caffeine has been extensively studied and is known for its stimulant effects on the central nervous system. Research has examined its effects on alertness, attention and fatigue under a variety of conditions.
At the same time, caffeine tolerance differs considerably among individuals. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration states that 400 mg of caffeine per day is an amount not generally associated with negative effects for most healthy adults, although sensitivity depends on factors including body weight, medications, medical conditions and individual response.
Because Performer 8 lists 200 mg, users who also consume coffee, tea, energy beverages, pre-workout products or other sources of caffeine should consider their total daily intake.
The established effects of caffeine should also be kept separate from claims about the other ingredients or the complete formulation.
Magnesium: Established Role in Normal Physiological Processes
Performer 8 lists 80 mg of magnesium. Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in more than 300 enzyme systems. According to the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, magnesium contributes to processes including energy production, protein synthesis, muscle and nerve function, glucose control and normal heart rhythm.
The specific form of magnesium is relevant when interpreting supplements because absorption differs between compounds.
The NIH notes that magnesium forms that dissolve more readily in liquid tend to be better absorbed and identifies citrate, chloride, lactate and aspartate as generally more bioavailable than magnesium oxide.
These findings describe magnesium’s established nutritional role and differences between supplemental forms. They do not demonstrate an additional product-specific outcome from Performer 8.
Zinc: Essential Mineral With Defined Intake Guidelines
The formula contains 10 mg of zinc.
Zinc is an essential nutrient involved in cellular metabolism and the activity of hundreds of enzymes. It also contributes to protein and DNA synthesis, cell signaling and normal immune function.
The NIH lists a recommended dietary allowance of 11 mg per day for adult men and a tolerable upper intake level of 40 mg per day for adults from all sources.
The 10 mg contained in Performer 8 is therefore best understood in the context of overall dietary zinc intake rather than as evidence of a separate product effect.
People taking multivitamins or other zinc-containing supplements should consider their combined daily intake.
Six Additional Ingredients in the Current Formula
Beyond the five ingredients discussed above, Performer 8 lists six additional components.
L-lysine — 500 mg: L-lysine is an essential amino acid required from dietary sources. It participates in normal protein metabolism. Its established nutritional role should not be interpreted as evidence that supplemental lysine produces additional results in people whose dietary intake is already adequate.
SENACTIV — 50 mg: SENACTIV is identified as a botanical combination containing Panax notoginseng and Rosa roxburghii. Human research on Panax notoginseng has used substantially different preparations and quantities. For example, one randomized trial involving 29 adults evaluated 1,350 mg per day for 30 days. That study did not evaluate SENACTIV or Performer 8.
Vitamin C — 80 mg: Vitamin C is an essential water-soluble nutrient involved in collagen formation, protein metabolism and antioxidant processes.
Vitamin B6 — 1.4 mg: Vitamin B6 participates in numerous enzyme reactions involved primarily in metabolism and normal physiological function.
Copper — 1 mg: Copper is an essential trace mineral involved in several enzyme systems and normal metabolic processes.
Folic acid — 200 mcg: Folic acid is the supplemental form of folate, a B vitamin involved in DNA synthesis and normal cellular processes.
These ingredients have different evidence bases, and their established nutritional functions should not be combined to create claims about the complete product.
Why Individual-Ingredient Research Has Limits
Most dietary-supplement research evaluates one ingredient under controlled conditions. Researchers generally specify the dose, preparation, participant characteristics, length of treatment and outcome being measured.
A multi-ingredient formulation introduces additional variables.
For that reason, three questions should remain separate:
-
What is the established nutritional or physiological role of an ingredient?
-
What has research found when that ingredient was studied independently?
-
What has been demonstrated for the complete Performer 8 formulation?
Evidence supporting the first or second question does not automatically answer the third.
The current Performer 8 formula has 11 ingredients with different research histories, and no conclusion about the complete formulation should be reached simply by combining findings from separate studies.
Safety and Suitability
Wolfson Brands states that Performer 8 is intended for adult use. Consumers should evaluate the complete ingredient list alongside medications, other dietary supplements and daily caffeine consumption.
The 200 mg caffeine content is particularly relevant for people consuming additional caffeinated products. Ashwagandha may also require additional consideration for people using certain medications or managing existing health conditions.
Consumers taking prescription medication or managing a medical condition should discuss dietary supplements with a qualified healthcare professional before use.
The Supplement Facts panel supplied with the product should remain the primary source for current serving instructions, ingredient quantities and warnings because formulations may change.
U.S. Launch and Product Information
Wolfson Brands is introducing the current Performer 8 formulation to the U.S. market with individually disclosed quantities for all 11 listed active ingredients. The company said the launch information is intended to distinguish the formulation itself from the scientific literature surrounding its individual components.
No individual-ingredient study cited in this announcement evaluated the complete Performer 8 formula.
