Industry veterans Gary Gripp and Brody Anderson are representing Anderson Poolworks at the conference. Gripp, one of the industry’s most experienced aquatic technicians, also works directly with public-facility operators in APW’s outside sales and consulting role, helping agencies evaluate equipment, troubleshoot system issues and plan practical upgrades.

For Anderson Poolworks, however, its connection to public recreation has sometimes extended well beyond contracted work.
A Lasting Gift to the Culver Community
In 2016, Anderson Poolworks played a leading role in bringing the Brandon Johnson Memorial Splash Park to life in Culver, Oregon, helping transform a community’s vision into a completed aquatic facility.
The splash park was created in memory of Brandon Johnson, a 10-year-old Culver boy who died from a brain tumor. Anderson Poolworks brought its aquatic construction expertise to the project and helped marshal the labor, equipment and industry resources necessary to build the facility.
“Brandon’s splash park wasn’t really about building another aquatic facility,” co-founder and APW President Dana Anderson said. “It was about a community wanting to create something lasting for a boy they loved, and our industry had the ability to help make that happen. We knew how to build it, so we stepped in.”
The resulting splash park gave Culver families a new community gathering place while creating a permanent memorial to Brandon.
Building, Renovating and Extending the Life of Aquatic Facilities
As many public aquatic facilities throughout the region age, Anderson Poolworks sees increasing opportunity to help agencies evaluate how existing facilities can be renewed rather than simply replaced.
“Aquatic facilities are long-term community assets,” Brody Anderson said. “The conversation shouldn’t always begin with replacing everything. Often the better questions are: What do we have? What’s working? What’s reaching the end of its useful life? And where will investment have the greatest impact on reliability, operating cost and the experience of the people using the facility?”

As Anderson Poolworks approaches its 30th anniversary in 2027, the company remains family-owned and headquartered in Wilsonville, Oregon.
