Learning Tree Academy Hosts Grandparents Day Celebration in Classrooms

SUCCASUNNA, NJ – October 21, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –

Learning Tree Academy hosted a Grandparents Day celebration at its Succasunna, New Jersey, child care center on Monday, September 14, 2026, opening its classrooms to grandparents and other special guests for an afternoon of crafts, pizza, and juice. The family-owned center, which serves children from six weeks old through pre-kindergarten, posted a recap of the afternoon on its Facebook page the same day.

National Grandparents Day is designated under federal law as the Sunday following Labor Day, which this year fell on September 13. The statute behind the observance, passed in 1979, describes its purpose as honoring grandparents and helping children become aware of what older people can pass on to them. The center operates Monday through Friday, so the Succasunna team held its celebration on the next school day.

According to the center’s post, children welcomed their guests into their own classrooms, worked on crafts alongside them, and shared pizza before the guests headed home. In the same post, the center thanked the grandparents and special guests who joined the children and said it hoped they enjoyed the afternoon as much as the staff did.

Nataliya Malinovsky, Owner, said, “Grandparents Day gave our students a chance to share their school experience with the grandparents and family members who are important to them. It was wonderful to see them spending that time together in the classroom.”

Family engagement is one of the areas on which the center says it is evaluated. The Succasunna location is a 3-star-rated program in Grow NJ Kids, New Jersey’s quality rating and improvement system for child care and early learning, according to the center’s website. The site states that Grow NJ Kids reviews programs on teacher professional development, curriculum quality, learning environments, administration and management, and family and community engagement. The center also holds an organizational membership, rather than a program accreditation, in the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Teachers at the center use the Positive Discipline approach, which the website describes as five principles focused on responsibility, self-regulation, and problem-solving. The principle it lists as the starting point is helping children feel a strong sense of belonging and importance in their classroom community, and the site states that staff completed training with a Certified Positive Discipline Educator. Classrooms follow The Creative Curriculum, a research-based program built around learning through play.

Malinovsky continued, “Inviting grandparents into the school gives children a chance to share an important part of their lives with the people they love. It also helps build a stronger connection between families and the school community.”

Families at the center receive photos and real-time updates through the Procare app during the day, according to the programs page. The center’s team page notes that several members of the teaching staff have children of their own enrolled at the center, including the director, who has been with Learning Tree Academy since April 2022. The website describes the building as a home away from home and lists communication, defined on the site as full transparency and mutual respect, among the center’s core values.

The Succasunna location provides infant care from six weeks to 18 months, toddler care from 18 months to three years, and Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 preschool classrooms for ages three to five, along with summer camp for children from preschool through first grade and before- and after-school care for Roxbury Township elementary students. The center partners with the Wharton School District on the universal preschool program.

Learning Tree Academy provides early childhood care and education in Morris County from its Succasunna location, with a second location in Wood-Ridge in Bergen County. Founder and owner Nataliya Malinovsky is an early educator and a mother of three who describes working with children, teachers, and families as her true passion. Programs emphasize learning through play and the development of the whole child, socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.
